Reverend De'Andre D. Burgs, widely known as Pastor Dre, serves as the Senior Lead Pastor of Mt. Tabor Baptist Church, where his visionary leadership guides a thriving congregation towards deeper spiritual engagement and outreach. As the founder and visionary architect of ChurchMovement.com, Pastor Dre has cultivated a dynamic community dedicated to fostering a disciple-making movement that extends beyond traditional church settings. In addition to his role at Church Movement, Pastor Dre is the creative driving force behind TheMovement.tv, an initiative aimed at creatively communicating Christ to contemporary culture through Podcast, Movement Music and Movement Wear. This innovative platform acts as a missional engine, employing creative strategies to engage and connect diverse audiences to Christ.
Pastor Dre's academic journey is a testament to his dedication to equipping himself for impactful ministry. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Christian Leadership and Biblical Studies from The College of Biblical Studies, supplemented by coursework in Communications at Sam Houston State University. He further advanced his studies with a Master of Arts in Biblical and Theological Studies from Western Seminary in Portland, OR. Currently, Pastor Dre is pursuing a Doctor of Education in Christian & Ministry Leadership at Liberty School of Divinity in Lynchburg, VA, with plans to begin his dissertation this Fall.
Pastor Dre's leadership extends beyond the church through his roles as a Certified Church Planting Assessor and Trainer, Church Revitalization specialist, and Certified Career & Life Coach. His affiliations with prominent organizations—including the Union Baptist Association, San Felipe Baptist Association, Nashville Baptist Association, National Baptist Convention, Southern Baptist Convention, and several others—reflect his commitment to the broader faith community. His involvement with the Texas Association of Realtors further highlights his dedication to serving his community in multifaceted ways.
Pastor Dre is married to Dr. Shawn Burgs, a distinguished scholar and practitioner in her own right. Dr. Shawn completed her undergraduate studies in Communications at Sam Houston State University with a focus on Journalism. She earned her Master's in Christian Education from Criswell College and holds a Doctorate of Ministry with a dual emphasis on Missional Theology and Spiritual Formation from the Hazelip School of Theology at Lipscomb University in Nashville, TN. The Burgs family, including their two sons, Christian and Carson, and daughter, Carli, resides in Miami, FL. Together, they are a beacon of passion and dedication, continuing to contribute to their community and the church.
